The Zambezi

Victoria Falls

So its been a while since iv been off on a Playboating trip so i decided to head to the Zam. I heard nothing but good words about the river but i never expected it to be as good as it is. Everything about the river itself is amazing.

Rapid Number 5

So when i arrived i was dragged with in 2 hours of landing off the plane on a booze cruz and by 11.30 that night i was fast asleep in bed looking forward to my first day on the river. So the next day i was on the river and running down from 1-7. My first experience of the river was amazing big waves, big holes and lots of down time which to me was just fun as hell.

Porter carrying sandys and my boat

As a kayaker on the Zambezi river It is hard work, you walk in and out of the gorge you spend the day kayaking on big water and you have to walk out. I was working for and kayaking with thezambezi.com and i have to say the porters they have working for them are just unbelievable they can run up and down the gorge with 2 kayaks in the amount of time it takes me to just get out.

The wave 7b

My favorite play wave on the river had to be 7b, i wasn't lucky enough to have got 12b but i am really happy to have experienced this wave. It was a fast steep glassy wave with all moves being possible. The buzz of kayaking this wave and throwing big moves was just mind blowing.

The boys pulling a big trailer up the hill

While i was there i was lucky enough to have got a job working as the safety kayaker on the multi day trip on the river. It was 4 days running down to the rapid called ghost rider and sleeping under the stars in some of the most beautiful places on earth. During our ride home our truck wasn't able to pull the trailer so we had to unload and carry everything up the hill with help from the porters, well, it was more like we tried to help the porters.
